Making Facebook Work For You

Facebook is the social media marketing tool online. Love it or hate it, it is here to stay.  Facebook has gone from a small, geek-oriented chat site to one of the biggest internet presences to date.  With over a million subscribers, businesses are quickly taking advantage of the trend.

So how do you maximise your exposure and fan base and get the most out of your Facebook page?  While some experts may argue otherwise, some traditional marketing approaches may be best suited for this cutting-edge marketing solution.

First things first, advertise your page.  If you want people to become your friend or a fan of your business, you have to let people out there know your page exists.  Contact your mailing list and send a cheerful invitation asking them to join you online.  Be straight and honest in your communication and you'll be good to go.

Another technique that can maximise your exposure is building your Facebook brand.  Incorporate your Facebook page into your current correspondance and marketing materials, including your emails, direct mail, advertisements, packing slips, everywhere you can.  Let people know you're out there!

Add plenty of content.  The more information your fans have, the more likely they are to use your services.  Post to your wall daily and make sure that your fans are able to leave comments.  Not only will they enjoy the interaction, each time someone posts, it will send a message to others that your site has been updated, which results in more exposure.

If you're serious about making Facebook work for you, you just have to play with what the site has to offer you using traditional marketing techniques and have fun with it.
